野村 誠
1962年 東京生まれ ベーシスト
1970年代後半、フリクション、リザード、ミラーズ、ミスターカイト、S-Kenの5バンドが、六本木S-Kenスタジオを拠点に、その総称として「東京ロッカーズ」の名のもとに活動を始める。それに刺激を受け、1979年 現在、音楽評論家として活躍する小野島大(vocals)、後の午前四時、Junglesに参加する井出裕之(drums)らとCOMPLEXを結成、同年の大晦日に吉祥寺マイナーでデビュー。
1980年5月 海賊艇Kによるコンピレーションアルバム「第三世代」に収録のため、六本木スタジオマグネット（旧S-Ken スタジオ）でのイベント「回天 '80」でライブ・レコーディングするも、海賊艇Kの消滅により発売されず、バンドも1980年10月に解散。
その後、小塚昌由(vocals, guitar)、清水丈(drums)とPABLO PICASSOを結成。
1981年1月 法政大学学生会館大ホールにおける「Garage Gig」でフリクションの前座としてデビューし鮮烈な印象を与え、9月にはヒゴ・ヒロシとの共同プロデュースで「紫外線/Not Movin'」をテレグラフレコードからリリースする。東京ロッカーズの第二世代、第三世代とも言われ、東京のパンク／ニューウェイヴシーンで精力的に活動。
1982年5月には小塚昌由が離脱するが、自らがヴォーカルを担当し、清水丈とベース＆ドラムスという構成ながら、斬新でオリジナリティ溢れるサウンドを展開する。
その後、その音楽性をさらに広げるため、1983年4月 榎本浩(guitar, trumpet, pianica and bongos)が参加。自らもアルトサックス、オルガンなども演奏し、ダブやフリージャズ的要素も取り込み、1983年12月にはアルバム「Soft Type」をテレグラフレコードからリリース、その音楽性が高い評価を受ける。
また、同年8月に、新宿ロフトで5日間に渡って行われた、この時期のシーンを総括したイベント「Case of Telegraph/Product 5」に出演、そのライブがテレグラフレコードからリリースされたコンピレーション･アルバム「Case of Telegraph Product 1」に収録される。
1984年2月には、さらなる音楽性の向上のため、ヘンリー(percussion)が参加。
1985年5月 新宿ロフトでラストライブを行い解散、8月にそのライブ盤「Motion Hits/Live!」がテレグラフレコードからリリースされた。
後の1991年4月 Wax Records/徳間ジャパンより「Soft Type」が2枚のシングルを追加しCD化される。
そのサウンドの実験性と自由度を高めるため、PABLO PICASSO解散から１年後の1986年5月に、新宿ロフトでソロ・ユニットPABLOとして活動を再開、1988年まで流動的にメンバーを変えながら活動。同時にライブの企画・プロデュースなども手がける。
このユニットに参加したメンバーは、塚田嗣人（沢村満のMich Live、立花ハジメ、Shi-Shonen、Soft Balletなど）、木原ケンジロ（ばちかぶり、Nubile）、Nao-Ken（Concretes）、セリガノ（Friction）、久野弘恵（あけぼの印）など多岐にわたる。
後に、この音源は2008年、アルバム「Escape/Live 1986-1988」としてRound Wound Recordsよりリリースされる。
1988年夏、単身ニューヨークに渡り、その後、帰国するも長い間音楽活動を休止する。
2009年11月 新宿ロフトでのイベント「Drive to 2010」に、ドラマーの山崎巌（初期のMarble Sheep、Ghost、Overhang Partyなどに参加）と共に出演、サブタイトルに"New Era/Sound Collage"と題し、新たな音楽性、表現方法を展開した。これを契機に音楽活動を再開する。
2010年6月 PABLO PICASSOのテレグラフレコードから発売されたアルバム1枚、シングル2枚に、未発表ライブ音源を加えた完全版とも言える「types 1981-1985」が、ディスクユニオンによるテレグラフレコードの再発売シリーズ「Telegraph Collection」よりリリースされる。
2011年7月 同シリーズの「Case of Telegraph Product DX」に「Not Movin'」の未発表ライブヴァージョンが収録される。
1988年の活動停止からおよそ26年、2014年7月 ベースソロによるアルバム「The Drawing of R」をRound Wound Recordsからリリース。

In the late 1970's, five bands - Friction, Lizard, Millers, Mr. Kite and S-Ken - based in Roppongi's S-Ken studio, started playing under the generic name, "Tokyo Rockers". Inspired by that, Makoto Nomura formed the band COMPLEX with, among others, the currently active music critic Dai Onojima (vocals), and Hiroyuki Ide (drums), who later participated in Gozen Yoji (4am) and Jungles. COMPLEX made their Kichijoji Minor debut on New Year's Eve in 1979.
In May 1980, COMPLEX did a live recording for Kaizokutei K's (Pirate Boat K) compilation album "Daisan Sedai" (Third Generation), at the "Kaiten '80" event in Roppongi's Studio Magnet (ex-S-Ken Studio). However the album was never released because of the dissolution of Kaizokutei K, which broke up in October 1980.
Later, Makoto formed the band PABLO PICASSO with Masayuki Kozuka (vocals, guitar) and Takeshi Shimizu (drums).
In January 1981, they made their impressive debut as an opening act for Friction at the event "Garage Gig" in Housei University's Student Hall. And in September of that same year "Shigaisen/Not Movin'" (7"), a joint production with Higo Hiroshi, was released on Telegraph Records. They were known as the "Second Generation of Tokyo Rockers", or even "Third Generation", and were actively involved in the energetic punk/new-wave scene of Tokyo at the time.
After Masayuki Kozuka left in May 1982, Makoto took over on vocals. Together with Takeshi Shimizu, they developed a totally original sound, using only bass and drums.
To further expand on their new found musical character, Hiroshi Enomoto (guitar, trumpet, pianica and bongos) joined the band in April 1983. At this point Makoto began to perform on other instruments such as the alto sax and organ, and started introducing musical elements like dub and free jazz into the mix. His musicianship came to be held in high regard with the release of their album "Soft Type" on Telegraph Records in December 1983.
They appeared at the event "Case of Telegraph/Product 5" held over five days at Shinjuku Loft, which exemplified the music scene of that period. This event was recorded live for Telegraph Records and released as a compilation album called "Case of Telegraph Product 1".
In February 1984, Henry (percussion) joined the band to further improve on its musicianship.
In May 1985, they performed their last live show at Shinjuku Loft and then broke up. The live show, "Motion Hits/Live!" (7"), was released in August on Telegraph Records.
Later, in April 1994, Wax Records/Tokuma Japan Corp. reissued "Soft Type" on CD alongside two other 7".
In order to free up his musical experimentation, Makoto restarted his musical activities at Shinjuku Loft as Solo Unit PABLO in May 1986, one year after PABLO PICASSO broke up. He changed his members frequently, and planned, produced and performed events until 1988.
Some of the very diverse members that participated in this unit were Tsuguhito Tsukada (Mitsuru Sawamura's Mich Live, Hajime Tachibana, Shi-Shonen, Soft Ballet, etc.), Kenjiro Kihara (Bachikaburi, Nubile), Nao-Ken (Concretes), Serigano (Friction), Hiroe Hisano (Akebonozirushi) and more.
Later, the album "Escape/Live 1986-1988" was formed out of this sound source. It was released on Round Wound Records in 2008.
In the summer of 1988, Makoto took off for New York. After returning home he took a long break from playing music.
In November 2009, Makoto appeared with Drummer Iwao Yamazaki (a member of an early Marble Sheep, Ghost and Overhang Party) at the "Drive to 2010" event at Shinjuku Loft under the name "New Era/Sound Collage", resulting in a new and continually evolving form of expression and musicianship. This became the opportunity for Makoto to resume his musical activities.
In June 2010, the PABLO PICASSO album with two 7" that had been released on Telegraph Records was combined with some previously unreleased live tracks. This complete edition was released by Disk Union for Telegraph Records' reissue series "Telegraph Collection", and called "types 1981-1985".
In July 2011, a previously unreleased version of a live recording of "Not Movin'" was released on "Case of Telegraph Product DX" for the same series.
The release of his solo bass recording, the album "The Drawing of R" on Round Wound Records, in July 2014 marks twenty-six years since Makoto stopped playing music in 1988.
